Generating text and checking facts are not the same task. Gaps in knowledge, misunderstood context, and reasoning errors can all cause trouble.
A useful habit is to verify important facts, dates, and quotations. If you cannot find support, keep the uncertainty instead of adding a detail that merely sounds right.
