A girl and a robot thinking together

Think Together · Start with a Short Story

Instead of saying only, “Do it for me,” the girl asks, “For which examples would my method fail?” The robot helps her examine her reasoning.

Lay Out the Process

Follow the numbered steps, then explain them in your own words
  1. Share an ideaYour first approach
  2. Ask for a challengeLook for counterexamples
  3. Check the reasoningTest it yourself
  4. Revise the planMake your own judgment

Thinking with AI means asking it for different explanations, counterexamples, and questions that help you check your ideas.

You clarify the goal, evaluate the evidence, and make the decision. The model offers possible answers that you can test.

If it gives you a counterexample, work through it yourself. If it supports your view, ask for specific reasons too, so you do not accept an answer just because it agrees with you.

Now You Try

You say, “Binary search works on any array,” and the AI agrees. What should you do?

Work through an unsorted array by hand and check the required conditions. Without sorted data, you cannot safely discard half of the array. Do not accept a false conclusion just because the AI agreed with you.

One Idea to Take Away

Thinking with AI means asking it for different explanations, counterexamples, and questions that help you check your ideas.

Try covering the diagram above and explaining each step to someone in your family. If one step is hard to explain, return to that card and look again.
